Racine officials to host public meeting about sex offender release
RACINE (WITI) -- The Racine Police Department invites the public to a sex offender notification meeting on Monday May 19th at 6:30 p.m. at the Richard Polzin COP House 1900 16th Street.
The meeting is in regards to Timothy Smith who will be residing at 1400 Washington Ave. Representatives of the Racine Police Department and Wisconsin Department of Corrections will be present to provide more information.
The meeting is informational only and is not a forum for public comment. It is asked that only adults attend due to the subject matter.
Officials are releasing the information to enhance public safety, awareness and protection. Smith has been convicted of sex offenses and his criminal history places him in a classification level, which reflects the potential to re-offend. Smith is not wanted and has already served his jail time.
Smith is set to be released on May 27, 2014. He has a 2001 conviction for second degree sexual assault of a child and 3rd degree sexual assault. Smith will be placed on supervised release. He is required to wear a Global Positioning System bracelet and he is a lifetime registrant of the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program.
