Racine PD has received more reports of child sex assault suspect babysitting

Alexander Richter faces 26 counts of child sex abuse

RACINE -- A spokesperson with the Racine Police Department told FOX6 News Tuesday, November 13th the department has received reports of a child sex assault suspect having babysat for more parents. Investigators are following up on the new leads.

28-year-old Alexander Richter is facing 26 counts related to sexual abuse of a child, and police say he used a school as his hunting grounds.

Racine police officers told FOX6 News they haven't seen child abuse on this scale for years, and are still trying to determine just how many children and families may have been hurt by Richter.

Police say Richter befriended classmates at Gateway Technical College in Racine, and then offered to babysit their children.

So far, police know of two victims -- a five-year-old and a seven-year old.

"Certainly no one can remember something like this in the recent past. Obviously it's very disturbing when you have very young children involved," Racine Police Sgt. Martin Pavilonis said.

Police arrested Richter on Thursday, November 9th.

A search warrant was executed at Richter's residence, where police found enough evidence to lead to more charges related to child pornography and video taping children in sexual positions.

Neighbors like Jarvis Booker told FOX6 News they've seen Richter, though they didn't know him well.

"No idea he was involved in any such activity such as that. Just see him go in, come from school and go out," Booker said.

Meanwhile, Gateway Dean Ray Koukari told FOX6 News the allegations against Richter are disturbing.

"That's very disturbing. We have many students that enjoy this as a safe place. Over the years, we've added many precautions to make sure our students are safe here," Dean Koukari said.

Police also reportedly found evidence indicating Richter may have sexually assaulted and victimized young boys and girls that have not yet been reported to authorities.

Police would like to speak with anyone who may have had their children watched by Richter over the last few years.
