Racine police: 45-year-old man in custody following "active tactical situation"
RACINE (WITI) -- Racine police arrested a 45-year-old Racine man following an "active tactical situation" that occurred late Tuesday night, November 11th.
It began just after 9:00 p.m. in the 2400 block of N. Main Street.
Police were called out to a home in the area for a report of shots fired in the home.
Arriving officers were informed a man was intoxicated and possibly suicidal, and he had fired several shots in the home. Officers established a perimeter.
Officers on scene heard more shots fired in the home, and they were informed the man was alone in the home.
A SWAT Team and a Crisis Negotiation Team arrived at the scene as homes in the area received a "Code Red" telephone message advising them of the ongoing tactical situation -- and to remain indoors, in interior rooms.
Just before 1:00 a.m., police say the man exited the home and was taken into custody.
Police say their investigation into this incident is ongoing.
They say the 45-year-old man was arrested for first degree recklessly endangering safety, felony failure to comply with officers attempting to arrest him, and disorderly conduct while armed.
He hasn't yet been officially charged.
