Racine police: Neighbor notices suspicious activity, two teenage burglary suspects quickly arrested
RACINE -- Racine police were able to quickly arrest two teenagers, accused of breaking into a home.
It happened on Tuesday afternoon, November 10th -- shortly before 12:30 p.m.
Police say a neighbor observed three individuals kick in the back door of a home near 19th and Grange Avenue, and enter that home.
As an officer arrived at the home, that officer observed three individuals walk from the back of the home.
The officer gave commands, but police say all three suspects fled the yard -- jumping over a fence.
A perimeter was established -- and officers were able to locate the suspects hiding behind bushes near 19th and Taylor Avenue.
After a brief foot pursuit, two suspects were taken into custody.
Officers found a backpack in the bushes that contained several items taken from the home during the burglary.
The two suspects arrested are 16 and 17 years old, police say. They were arrested on charges of burglary, obstructing an officer and a probation violation.
Racine police are thanking the observant neighbor for noticing and reporting suspicious activity in this case.
"The community’s watchful eye over their neighborhoods should not go unnoticed," police said in a statement.
