Racine police: Young suspects in custody after armed robbery; ages 13, 14, and 15

RACINE -- Racine police say three young suspects were arrested following an armed robbery that happened on Monday night, December 7th.

Around 9:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of an armed robbery near Hamilton Street and Geneva Street.

There, they spoke with two victims, who indicated they were in a parked vehicle in front of a home in the area when they were approached by four males.

One of the suspects produced a handgun and pointed it at the victims -- demanding a bag one of the victims was carrying.

When the victim refused, that victim was struck in the head with the butt of the handgun.

The suspects then grabbed the bag and fled the scene.

Officers later located three suspects matching the description of the offenders in this incident nearby.

They were arrested, and transported to juvenile detention. The suspects are a 14-year-old, a 15-year-old, and a 13-year-old.

Police say a fourth suspect is still being sought.

The injured victim's family told FOX6 News he is doing OK -- but he's definitely shaken after what happened.

"The crime is ridiculous," Steen Shattuck, who lives in the area said. "It gets rough out here at night."

Shattuck said the fact the suspects are so young makes this incident all the more disturbing.

"They don`t know what`s going on. They don`t understand the world outside of what they`re shown on TV, video games," Shattuck said.
