GRAFTON -- Lots of people are out firing up the grill this weekend for the 4th of July holiday. In Grafton, they were grilling for a different reason on Saturday, July 2nd.

More than 30 'grillers' from around the country were competing for the title of this year's "Kansas City BBQ Contest."
The competition was part of the village's fourth of July celebration at Centennial Park.
Something was different this year though...
"We're actually starting the first annual backyard barbeque competition. We're looking for guys that have a Webber grill that are ready to cook and share their recipes with us," said Brad Saunders, Grillin' in Grafton.
The backyard grillers were competing for cash and trophy prizes.

As you can probably imagine, people were more than willing to pay and be judges.
The event wrapped up with the village's annual fireworks show.
