Red Cross volunteers assisting family after home catches fire on St. Patrick Street in Racine

RACINE -- The American Red Cross says volunteers are assisting after a fire in Racine on Saturday night, November 7th.

It happened at a home on S. Patrick Street (near the intersection with Dr. Martin Luther King Drive).

Officials with the Racine Fire Department say this fire caused $40,000 in damage to the structure and $10,000 in damage to contents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Fire officials say a 911 caller indicated fire was showing from a window.

Upon arrival, firefighters found light smoke coming from the home's first floor.

Fire crews made a fast attack through the front door to extinguish fire in the living room.

Damage to the basement, second floor and attic space were reported.

No one was home at the time of the fire,

Red Cross volunteers are working with those who live in the home.
