MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- It's common to see folks hugging when they reunite at the airport. But on Friday, July 18th, a larger-than-usual crowd gathered to witness a special reunion involving a veteran and man's best friend.
Lance Corporal James Minton of the U.S. Marine Corps was waiting for a plane with someone very special on board. He's been waiting for two years. He's ready to be reunited with Boo, his military dog he trained and served with in Afghanistan.
"Basically just walked around, patrolled around and searched for bombs and made sure the area was safe for the community," said Minton.
For nearly a year, they were inseparable. But then, Minton was send back home to Kenosha. But Boo had to stay behind to continue his dangerous mission. So Minton relied on the internet to check on Boo as often as possible.
Reuniting Boo and Minton was made possible through the American Humane Association and Mission K9 Rescue.
