Road to recovery: Ja’Nyela Marsh-Highshaw is now "walking, talking, singing and dancing"

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Four-year-old Ja'Nyela Marsh-Highshaw is making significant progress in her road to recovery after being shot in the head.

Ja'Nyela was shot on November 5th while sitting in a car near 18th and Villa in Racine. Because of the severity of her injuries, doctors put her in a medically-induced coma for nearly 11 days.

Ja'Nyela's mother told FOX6 News on Monday, December 1st that her daughter is "doing really well." She says she's started physical, occupational and speech therapy. Ja'Nyela is also "walking, talking, singing and dancing now."

To this day, no one is in custody in connection with this shooting. However, Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for tips that lead to the arrest of the suspect(s) responsible in this case. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 262-636-9330.
