Rock 'n Sole Run selects Boys & Girls Club as charity partner
MILWAUKEE (WITI) – The Summerfest Rock ‘n Sole Run presented by BMO Harris Bank has selected Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee as the Official Charity Partner for the 2014 event which will take place Saturday, June 14 at 7:00 am at Henry Maier Festival Park.
“We are honored and excited to be chosen as a beneficiary of the 2014 Summerfest Rock ‘n Sole Run. Every day we teach our members the importance of a healthy lifestyle through valuable lessons in sports and fitness activities,” said Vincent Lyles, President & CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee. “Getting involved in sports and fitness at a young age benefits our members, and we are grateful for the support that will help us continue this important work.”
The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee is to inspire and empower all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. An integral part of the community, the Clubs offers its members safe facilities, free meals, academic support, character-building programs and access to role models. With more than 100 programs offered year round and more than 4,600 young people utilizing the Clubs each day, the organization strives to provide an environment that exists solely to help participants reach for a brighter future.
The Summerfest Rock ‘n Sole Run is a world-class event that relies heavily on its race staff and volunteer base to ensure a successful race day. Boys & Girls Clubs will not only help provide volunteers, participants may also see Club members providing entertainment and performing along the race route.
