Sales tax imposed in Brown Co. 15 years ago to pay for Lambeau Field coming to an end
GREEN BAY — A sales tax imposed in Brown County about 15 years ago is coming to an end.
The half-percent sales tax went into effect in January 2001 to pay for Lambeau Field renovations after voters approved it in a referendum.
WLUK-TV reports the tax ends Wednesday.
The revenue was used to pay for $160 million in bonding for the $295 million renovation of Lambeau Field in 2003. It also provided the Green Bay Packers with a capped amount of maintenance reimbursement.
