RANDOM LAKE (WITI) -- A big surprise for Random Lake Elementary School's principal on Wednesday morning, May 20th! She was named "Principal of the Year!"
Sandra Mountain, the principal at Random Lake Elementary School was given the Elementary School Principal of the Year award from the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators.
Mountain has been the principal at Random Lake Elementary School for 12 years.
As any good educator would, Mountain says this award is all about the kids.
"I tell people that I have 300 children because they're my kids. We work together. We're a team. I couldn't do what I do without them," Mountain said.
As part of her award, Mountain was given $1,000 to be used any way she'd like at the school.
She now becomes Wisconsin's candidate in the National Distinguished Principals Program. That happens in September in Washington, D.C.
