GREEN BAY (WITI) -- There's now an extra reason to cheer for a Packers touchdown! For every Green Bay Packers touchdown scored this season, Sargento is donating $1,000 to Hunger Task Force. So far this season, there have been 38 touchdowns, which means $38,000 to fight hunger in the community.

Tuesday, December 17th was a chance to celebrate that donation, the Packers, and the volunteers that work throughout the community in food pantries, homeless shelters and soup kitchens.

There was food, cake, raffles and even autographs from Packers running back Jonathan Franklin. It was an important opportunity to thank those who help their community every day.

“We are feeding the volunteers instead of the volunteers feeding other people. Today we are going to give them all big hugs and thank them for their work throughout the year. They are the front line of hunger relief so it feels really good to be able to recognize them,” said Sherrie Tussler, the director at Hunger Task Force.

“It's wonderful that the volunteers are able to come and celebrate during the day and meet one of the Packers players up close. It’s a small thing we can do for them after they work all year long to help alleviate hunger in Wisconsin,” said Barbara Gannon with Sargento.

That $38,000 can only increase as the packers keep playing. If they make it to the post season-- Sargento will double their donations and give $2,000 a touchdown.
