Scouting America: Boy Scouts of America rebrands

The Boy Scouts of America, one of the nation's biggest youth groups, is rebranding – now known as Scouting America.

FOX6 News spoke to Nick Thornton, director of field service at Three Harbors Council, about the new era. Eagle Scout Ivan Bannier – who has earned all 139 merit badgers – and Arrow of Light Scout Harrison Costigan also discussed the change.

Scouting America currently has more than one million scouts. The organization has been accepting girls into Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops for five years, and said 176,000 girls and young women participate.

Over 115 years, 130 million Americans have been through scouting programs. The Hoan Bridge will be lit red, white and blue on Saturday to honor Scouting America's birthday.
