Seats at Sunday's Packers game selling for a discounted rate

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A trip to Lambeau Field to watch the Green Bay Packers take on division rivals the Minnesota Vikings is typically a pricey outing, however due to both teams' current records, tickets are selling for far less than usual.

"We're actually seeing some tickets being sold for face value. I mean, you can actually get tickets for $85 right now," said Mike Holzberger with Connections Ticket Service.

Holzberger says fans can even get seats for Sunday's match-up on the 40 and 50 yard lines for under $150.

"This really does present an opportunity for the person who couldn't afford to pay $300 per ticket for a normal Packers-Vikings game. Now you can go for under $100 per ticket and that's a significant difference," said Holzberger.

Ticket experts say three key factors are driving down prices for this game -- the first being Aaron Rodgers' absence. The team's recent losing streak and the start of the gun-deer hunting season are also contributing to the price decrease.

"Even if the Packers hadn't lost three in a row, and let's just say even if Rodgers was there, it probably would have been a little bit cheaper than normal just because of the whole hunting thing," said James Bryce of Ticket King.

Whether or not ticket prices spike in the near future depends on a couple other factors, including when Rodgers returns and the Packers performances in their upcoming games versus the Vikings and Lions.

"If we lose this week and we lose next week, I mean, that's pretty much it for us. You won't see a lot of demand because there's nothing to play for," said Holzberger. "I really do not anticipate a lot of demand for homecoming, so to speak, unless the Packers are still in the running for the playoffs."

Assuming Rodgers is back in the game against the Atlanta Falcons, and the Packers are still in contention at that point, Holzberger predicts a 30-40% increase in ticket prices.
