DODGE COUNTY (WITI) -- Dodge County was under the gun in terms of snowfall on Wednesday, January 30th. Several inches of snow fell in Juneau on Wednesday, and there was fear that once the temperatures fell Wednesday night, everything would quickly turn to ice.
Four wheel drive in a Dodge County Sheriff's truck was the way to go on Wednesday, as many travelling through Dodge County had to deal with mounting snow and slippery streets.
"The roads are pretty bad and though main highways have cleared up, with the blowing winds and everything very snow-covered with slush underneath, freezing causing it to be even worse," Dodge County Sheriff's Deputy Mike Matoushek said.
A fully loaded semi rolled down an embankment on Wednesday morning. The semi's driver was taken to the hospital.
Officials say it is too dangerous to bring in towing gear, so they planned to leave the semi in place until the weather clears.
Throughout Dodge County, drivers were taking it easy on Wednesday -- many wishing it was Tuesday again -- when we saw record high temperatures for January.
With temperatures falling Wednesday night, officials plan to be out salting streets.
