MADISON — U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson says no place is safe from terrorism.
Johnson, the Republican chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, made the remarks to reporters ahead of a town hall meeting at the Wisconsin National Guard's Madison headquarters on Friday.
He called the arrests Thursday of two men with ties to the Islamic State in California and Texas very disturbing. He called the arrests a success story but warned that no community is safe and people need to face that reality.
Johnson faces a tough re-election challenge from longtime former Sen. Russ Feingold, a Democrat, this fall.
