Senator Ron Johnson not expected to join Donald Trump for rally in Green Bay

GREEN BAY — U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson says he doesn't expect to join GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump on a Wisconsin campaign stop this week.

Johnson told WLUK-TV (http://bit.ly/2aNqy6f ) Tuesday that he doesn't think his schedule will allow him to join Trump in Green Bay on Friday. Johnson says his schedule was set ahead of time and he honors his commitments.

Trump has been locked in an emotional feud with Khizr and Ghazala Khan, parents of a Muslim U.S. Army captain who was killed in Iraq. Trump implied that Ghazala Khan didn't speak alongside her husband at the national Democratic convention because they're Muslim.

Johnson, a Republican trying to fend off Democratic challenger Russ Feingold in November, has endorsed Trump. Johnson issued a statement Monday praising the Khans but didn't mention Trump.
