SENTENCED: Two decades in prison for man accused of shooting clerk, owner at Twins Food Mart in Racine

RACINE COUNTY (WITI) -- A 56-year-old Racine man, charged in the shooting of Twins Food Mart clerk and owner Bashar Quedan back in February of 2013 has been sentenced in the case against him.

Samuel White pleaded no contest to a felony charge of attempted first degree intentional homicide, use of a dangerous weapon.

He was sentenced on Monday, February 23rd to 20 years in prison and five years of extended supervison. He's been ordered to have no contact with the victim in this case, and a restitution hearing has been scheduled for May 11th.

The shooting occurred at the Twins Food Mart near 16th and Packard on February 28th, 2013.

According to the criminal complaint, Bashar Quedan was behind the counter at the store -- talking to his father when White came into the store in an alleged intoxicated state. According to Quedan, White brought items up to the counter and began swearing at his father.

Police say Quedan told White not to speak to his father in a disrespectful way, but White allegedly continued to swear. At that time, Quedan escorted White out of the store.

Following the altercation, White allegedly returned to the Twins Food Mart, confronted Quedan, and then "shot at him a number of times in the neck." Following the shooting, White fled the scene on foot.
