WEST ALLIS (WITI) -- A woman who was grazed in the head by a bullet mustered the strength to knock on a West Allis door after her boyfriend was shot and killed. This was a double shooting, and no one is in custody.
Witnesses say the woman was panicking. Thanks to a nearby business owner, the aftermath of the shooting was all caught on video.
At around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, April 8th, a knock came at Claudia Derringer's door near S. 57th and National.
"The banging got louder. The next thing I knew, there was a girl out there. She was covered in blood," said Derringer.
As Derringer called 911, she learned the woman was the victim of a double shooting that took place in an alley across the street.
Investigators blocked off the area for several hours.
You can see the woman panicking in images captured on surveillance footage.
"She said 'my boyfriend got shot.' She said he got shot and killed," said Derringer.
The bloody mess on Derringer's doorstep was washed away by Thursday's rain.
Another neighbor says the commotion drew him out to his front porch. There, he discovered a crime scene a few feet from where he lives.
"I just hope they find whoever is responsible that did this," said the neighbor.
So far, West Allis police have not made any arrests.
The female victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. It's not known what led to the shooting.
A FOX6 News viewer sent us a photo of the alley. Neighbors say police spent a lot of time focused on a car that was left behind.
Neighbors say they didn't recognize the female victim as a resident in the area.
