Sheriff: Juvenile confessed to threatening to 'blow up' Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness
JUNEAU -- Dodge County sheriff's officials said Sunday, Aug. 11 a juvenile confessed to threatening the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Beaver Dam.
According to sheriff's officials, shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday, two elders reported receiving text message threats while at their homes, indicating the meeting and congregation of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness "were going to be blown up." The sheriff said these particular elders were involved in the Spanish-speaking meetings at this location.
The threats were sent from a spoofed number, preventing direct contact with the sender.
An investigation led authorities to the device used to spoof the number, and the sender.
Sheriff's officials said the threats were determined not to be hate crimes.
The building was searched and no explosives were found.
