Sheriff's Office: Eight sex offenders arrested for violations during "Operation Trick-or-Treat"

MILWAUKEE -- Officials with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is announcing the results of the "Operation Trick-or-Treat" initiative Saturday, October 31st -- during which checks were performed to ensure sex offenders complied with Department of Corrections guidelines that prohibit interaction with trick-or-treaters.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office partnered with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC) Probation and Parole, and police departments in Milwaukee and West Allis, to ensure that sex offenders in Milwaukee County complied with the DOC guidelines.

In addition to the Saturday initiative, sheriff’s deputies and the US Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force officials also conducted warrant sweeps the previous week, arresting 26 subjects wanted for probation violations.

During trick-or-treat hours on Saturday, deputies and state DOC Probation and Parole conducted checks on 174 registered sex offenders.  Eight sex offenders were arrested for violation of their probation and parole conditions on Saturday.
