DODGE COUNTY -- A 27-year-old man from the Watertown was arrested early Thursday morning, Feb. 8 for OWI following a snowmobile accident.
It happened shortly before 4 a.m. near Hwy. Q and Walton Road in the Town of Shields.
Police say the man was operating his snowmobile on the highway and on private property when he entered a plowed field and was thrown from the snowmobile.
Watertown Fire and Paramedics responded along with the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.
The operator was transported to Aurora Hospital in Summit with non-life-threatening injuries. The operator was arrested for Operating a Snowmobile while under the Influence.
Sheriff Dale Schmidt says he encourages "everyone to enjoy the snowmobiling opportunities that are available in Dodge County, however, just as in a car, it is important to never operate a snowmobile while under the influence of an intoxicant. The result of operating a snowmobile while under the influence can very quickly turn tragic and we want everyone out there to return home safely to their families each and every night."
