MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials say $27,000 worth of cash was seized during an early morning traffic stop on Sunday, October 27th.
Sheriff's officials say around 2:00 a.m., a deputy stopped a vehicle that had been deviating lanes on I-43 northbound from Chase Avenue to Highland Avenue. The driver, Terrance Pearson, age 34, of Milwaukee, was arrested for DUI-1st offense after performing poorly on standardized field sobriety tests.
According to Sheriff's officials, the deputy could smell a strong odor of both alcohol and marijuana on Pearson’s breath, and found more than $27,000 in cash in the glove box during an inventory search of the vehicle.
A canine search was conducted by a West Allis police officer, and no narcotics were found in the vehicle, though the canine alerted on the driver’s side door and the glove box.
Pearson was ticketed for DUI-1st offense and for Lane Deviation. Sheriff’s detectives are conducting an investigation.
