Sheriff's officials: Two alleged drunken drivers collide; innocent victims in third vehicle injured

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials say a stretch of I-94 had to be shut down on Sunday morning, September 21st -- after two drivers, believed to be drunk, crashed into one another, and then crashed into a third vehicle.

It happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. on I-94 westbound at North 25th Street.

Sheriff's officials say the three vehicles were across lanes of traffic -- requiring a closure of the roadway that lasted for about 35 minutes.

Sheriff's officials say a white Range Rover being operated by 34-year-old Michael Dodson of Milwaukee struck a white Mercedes, being driven by 35-year-old Arthur Flowers of Menomonee Falls. A pickup truck was the third vehicle struck. The 27-year-old driver of the pickup truck suffered a broken shoulder, and her passenger suffered a laceration above his eye that required stitches.

Dodson tested .11 on a preliminary breath test -- and he was arrested for his first DUI offense, and DUI causing injury. If convicted, he faces up to two years in prison. Sheriff's officials say he refused to say where he had been drinking.

Flowers tested .15 on a preliminary breath test. He told Sheriff's officials he was drinking at a downtown restaurant. He was arrested on his first DUI offense, and DUI causing injury. If convicted, he also faces up to two years in prison.
