Sikh Temple holds three-day prayer for Sandy Hook victims

OAK CREEK -- The Sikh Temple of Wisconsin is holding a three-day prayer service in remembrance of the victims who died in the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

The Sikh Temple began its prayer service on Friday morning, December 28th and will end at 10 a.m. on Sunday, December 30th.

The three-day prayer service is called an Akhand Path, which is a continuous reading of the holy Sikh scriptures, called the Guru Granth Sahib. The prayer is dedicated to those who died in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary school to ask for peace for those souls and for the strength for their families and loved ones to persevere through this trying time. It's the same type of prayer held for the loss of the victims from the Temple shooting on August 5th.

Anyone is invited to take part in the Sikh Temple prayer service as long as they are respectful of the customs of the temple.
