Six rescued after boat capsized on Lake Monona in Madison
MADISON — First responders rescued six people, including a young child, after their boat capsized on Lake Monona.
Dane County Sheriff's deputies say seven people were in the boat when it overturned on the lake shortly after midnight Sunday, June 26th, spilling the passengers into the water about a mile from shore. One boater was able to swim to shore to get help.
Marine and trail deputies, Madison and Monona fire and rescue personnel and the Department of Natural Resources responded to the lake. Three stranded boaters were found in the water clinging to the capsized boat. Three others, including a 10-year-old, were on top of the overturned boat.
All were taken safely to shore.
