MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Tuesday afternoon and evening, and Wednesday morning were struggles for drivers -- many getting stuck as they struggled to dig their vehicles out from under the wet, heavy snow. That's where the Good Samaritans stepped in -- and FOX6 found some of them, willing to lend a hand.

Roger Peterson was stuck, and once his car came to a stop, he tried accelerating his way out.

"I wanted to turn left, so I had to slow down and it was a little bit too much," Peterson said.

The alley on South 5th Place and Howard Avenue became a trap for cars because 20 minutes later, another man got stuck.

This is the first winter Jamie Pena has had his license.

"I thought it was shoveled, but I guess not. It's tough though. It's intense," Pena said.

Luckily, Pena's buddies were in the car to help. Peterson got some help from a neighbor down the street, Leonard Katz.

Katz called in reinforcements in the form of his 16-year-old stepson Yuri.

"I'm from Russia and I'm used to weather like this. Together, we pulled him out," Katz said.

Then, father and stepson doubled their efforts, clearing a path. After minutes of work, the car was home free.

"People helping the other people -- that's a normal thing for everybody. We're all human. We have to help each other. That's our nature," Katz said.

Katz said he has been in the same position before, so it is second nature for him to come help someone else.
