Solar farm proposed for Milwaukee's Mitchell International Airport

MILWAUKEE CO. (WITI) -- The Milwaukee County Board passed on Monday, February 10th, a resolution to study the feasibility of a new solar project at Mitchell International Airport. The vote to approve was 16 to 2.

Milwaukee County Board Chairwoman Marina Dimitrijevic said the solar farm would help advance the energy efficiency and renewable energy provisions of Milwaukee County’s ‘Greenprint’ initiative while supporting Wisconsin’s goal of using 10 percent renewable energy by 2015.

The ‘Greenprint’ initiative was introduced and passed in 2007. It was expanded in 2009 to include a Sustainability Director to oversee the initiative.
