Some calling tweet issued by Milwaukee County Supervisor Deanna Alexander "racist"
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A statement released on social media by Milwaukee County Supervisor Deanna Alexander is causing some controversy.
On Twitter, Alexander tweeted: "Well, I broke down and bought myself a present: A 'Breathe Easy, Don't Break the Law' T-shirt that is a take-off of the 'I Can't Breathe' slogan that followed the death of Eric Garner in New York."
Some have criticized Alexander, calling the tweet "racist."
On Wednesday morning, December 24th, FOX6 News spoke with Alexander at her home. She declined to go on camera, but instead issued a statement, saying: "My tweet wasn't intended to be racist. It was to support law enforcement."
