SOUTH MILWAUKEE, Wis. - One person is dead following a crash Wednesday morning, March 22 near Chicago and Rawson in South Milwaukee. The driver crashed into the Oak Creek Parkway following a police pursuit.
According to authorities, the Cudahy Police Department initiated the pursuit of a vehicle on Layton Avenue in Cudahy around 3:15 a.m. The initial reason for the pursuit was speeding, unsafe lane deviation, and improper display of registration.
The pursuit lasted approximately three miles. The top speed reached approximately 100 mph. Due to the fleeing driver's speed, the supervisor monitoring the chase instructed the pursuing police officer to terminate the pursuit.
Approximately 40 minutes later, the South Milwaukee Police Department located the vehicle, which was involved in a single car crash, near Chicago Avenue and Rawson Avenue. The driver, a 23-year-old Milwaukee man, was found dead. There were no other occupants inside the vehicle.
It was later discovered that the deceased driver had a warrant for his arrest.
The crash is being investigated by the South Milwaukee Police Department.
