Speed a factor in collision that killed one, hurt two teens

TOWN OF BRIGHTON -- One teen died from her injuries and two others were hurt after after a collision between a van and car in the Town of Brighton in Kenosha County late Friday afternoon, December 7th.

Investigators tell FOX6 News the crash happened on Highway 142 just west of Highway 45 shortly after 3 p.m.

A car driven by 16-year-old Casey Petricek of the Town of Brighton was traveling eastbound on Hwy. 142 when she lost control of the vehicle in a curve and veered into the westbound lane -- into the path of the van. Petricek died from her injuries around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 8th. 

Two girls in the van, 17-year-old Katey Zimmermann and 15-year-old Lisa Zimmermann, both from Trevor, suffered minor injuries.

Officials with the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department say speed was a factor in this collision.
