State Rep. Vos says Legislature needs "cleansing of the soul"
MADISON (AP) -- One of the top Republicans in the Wisconsin state Assembly says there needs to be a "cleansing of the soul" following the tumultuous legislative session that ended last week.
State Rep. Robin Vos said Wednesday that he hopes Republicans and Democrats will agree after recall elections this summer to work together on ways to improve how the Legislature operates.
Vos is co-chairman of the Legislature's budget committee and is widely expected to run for Assembly speaker next year.
Vos is an opponent of the current recall process. He says he even opposes using the recall against Democratic state Sen. Bob Jauch, the latest target by conservatives angry with Jauch's position on a mining bill.
Gov. Scott Walker and five other Republicans are also being targeted for recall.
