MADISON — A state Senate committee is set to hold the final hearing on a bill that would allow hunters to swap their blaze orange for fluorescent pink.
The Assembly passed the measure on a voice vote in November, sending it over to the Senate. That house's agriculture committee is scheduled to hold a public hearing on the bill Wednesday in the state Capitol. The hearing marks the last chance the public will have to sound off on the proposal.
Current law requires at least half of the clothing gun deer hunters wear above the wait to be blaze orange. The bill would allow the clothing to be fluorescent pink rather than blaze orange.
The bill's supporters say the measure will attract more women to hunting and give apparel manufacturers a boost.
