Student in custody after threat made to Kettle Moraine High School
WAUKESHA COUNTY -- Officials with the Kettle Moraine School District and Waukesha County Sheriff's Department said Thursday, May 5th an individual is in custody after a threat was made to the Kettle Moraine High School building indicating students and staff would be harmed on a specific future date.
School district officials said the threat was written on a bathroom wall.
Sheriff's officials were able to identify the individual believed responsible for the threat -- and that person was taken into custody.
The suspect is a student, who has been suspended, and will go through "established school district disciplinary procedures."
Safety sweeps were being conducted at Kettle Moraine High School Thursday -- and evening activities inside the building were cancelled for Thursday evening.
Patricia Deklotz, the Kettle Moraine School District superintendent, said this in a statement:
"The safety and security of our students and staff is our highest priority and all threats against schools are criminal offenses. This event offers an opportunity to talk with your children about their well-being and the implications of making threats to harm others. We wish to thank the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department for their support with the investigation."
