Surveillance video released after armed robbery, chase that led to arrest of man wanted for 2 years

Jaquan Johnson

MENOMONEE FALLS -- Police in Menomonee Falls released to FOX6 News on Tuesday, Jan. 16 surveillance video and 911 calls after a robbery that resulted in a high-speed chase Jan. 5.

The armed robbery happened at the Verizon store near Pilgrim Rd. and Silver Spring Dr.

Police say a man, later identified as Jaquan Johnson entered the store and pointed a gun at an employee. According to a criminal complaint, Johnson left with a bag of 16 iPhones. After that, he led police on a chase. Officers tracked him using the GPS devices in the stolen phones.

The fleeing car eventually crashed on Milwaukee's north side near 19th and Hampton, and Johnson was arrested. He's charged with armed robbery.

Officials say Johnson had been wanted for nearly two years, after he missed a court date in Milwaukee in a shooting case. Prosecutors say in 2015, Johnson allegedly fired into a building in Milwaukee following an argument, wounding one woman. A warrant was issued after he failed to appear in court.
