Suspect fires shots at New Berlin police; after hours-long standoff he is found dead inside home
NEW BERLIN -- A man is found dead inside his home after an hours-long standoff with New Berlin police that extended from late Friday, April 7th into early Saturday morning.
According to New Berlin police, officers responded to a report of shots fired near I-43 and Sunny Slope Road shortly before 9:00 p.m. When they arrived, police say they heard numerous gunshots. When the suspect was located by officers, he fired at them and then retreated into his home.
After several hours, tactical officers from Waukesha and Milwaukee Counties eventually forced entry into the home and found the man deceased.
