Suspects drive stolen vehicle, speed more than 100 m.p.h., crash on Milwaukee's north side
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is on the lookout for two suspects who were driving a stolen vehicle, speeding more than 100 miles an hour and fled the scene after wrecking the car. All of this unfolded on Friday morning, March 13th.
Officials say at about 9:20 a.m., a Milwaukee County sheriff’s deputy spotted a car on northbound US-41 near Bluemound Road traveling more than 100 m.p.h. The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle did not stop. It was found to be stolen out of Waukegan, Illinois. The vehicle exited at Lloyd Street, where the deputy again attempted to pull it over. The driver pulled away at high speeds, causing the deputy to stop the pursuit.
The driver of the stolen vehicle later disregarded a stop sign at 40th and Brown streets, and another at 37th Street & North Avenue, where the stolen car was struck by an SUV. The car spun around, jumped a curb, knocked down a stop sign and broke a fire hydrant off at the base, before coming to rest in bushes and a sidewalk at a gas station.
Two suspects fled the stolen vehicle on foot. The driver’s description: Male, black, 5’06” to 5’08”, 130 lbs., short haircut and no facial hair, wearing a white t-shirt, black hoodie and dark jeans. The passenger’s description: Male, black, about age 25, thin build, no facial hair, low haircut, wearing an orange t-shirt, gray hoodie, dark jeans and white tennis shoes.
Evidence found in the car is being processed by the MCSO Criminal Investigations Division. No injuries were reported by the driver and passenger of the SUV.
