Suspects sought after shots fired near Racine Park High School
RACINE -- Police are looking for suspects after shots were fired near Racine Park High School on Wednesday morning, October 17th. It made for tense moments at Racine Park High School, where some 1,800 students attend class.
Police say four shots were fired around 9:15 a.m. in the neighborhood adjacent to the high school. Nobody was hurt by the gunfire. Now, investigators are seeking two suspects who they say fled the area after firing shots that hit a garage.
Racine Park High School contacted parents to inform them of the situation. The school was in what they call a "shelter-in-place" period for about 45 minutes.
"We keep all the students in the classroom and staff in the classroom and a secure area of the building. We clear the hallways; Make sure the hallways were secure," Stacy Tapp with the Racine Unified School District said.
Less than an hour after the shots were heard, officers determined the suspects were not in the area and never entered the school. The high school then got the "all clear" from police.
