SWAT Team called to trailer park in Dodge County

DODGE COUNTY (WITI) -- Dodge County Sheriff's deputies were called out to a shots fired complaint in the Township of Lebanon Friday, February 15th near midnight.

While hiding behind a snow bank, a 29-year-old female called and reported to dispatch that her 30-year-old boyfriend, Jason Twaite was pointing a AK-47 rifle at her and firing shots.

Deputies, along with City of Watertown police officers responded to the scene at the Hidden Meadows Trailer Court and set up a perimeter after discovering that the woman went back inside the house and did not know where her boyfriend went.

The Sheriff's Department SWAT Team was called to the scene. A deputy was then able to negotiate with the man on his cell phone and he eventually surrendered to officers.

However, Dodge County Sheriff Todd Nehls says when officials made contact with the two, they both denied anything had been going on, and claimed they had been sleeping. Sheriff Nehls says this is common with domestic violence situations.

"We separated the two of them and she refused to say anything that transpired. She recanted her 911 and had hindered our investigation," Sheriff Nehls said.

Investigators found 25 spent 223 cal casings on the street. The AK-47 was found behind a neighbor's storage building with a live round still inside, the safety was off and a 30 round magazine was inserted into it. Three extra magazines were found near the rifle as well.

Twaite has been charged with operating a firearm while intoxicated, disorderly conduct and discharging a firearm within 100 yards of a building.

This isn't his first run in with the law. His publicly accessible rap sheet stretches back to his teenage years and includes over a dozen guilty pleas.
