Tammie Cooper accused of identity theft, wanted "to get back at" woman

SHEBOYGAN COUNTY (WITI) -- 37-year-old Tammie Cooper was charged in Sheboygan County with six counts of identity theft.

According to the criminal complaint, Cooper was a housekeeper for a married couple in Sheboygan. The woman noticed in the middle of November that new credit cards were being opened in her name. Notices came into the couple from credit agencies including Discover Card, American Express and Capital One. The woman notified police -- suspecting Cooper had "stolen her identity."

The complaint says on January 5th, a detective made contact with Cooper. The complaint says "Cooper admitted that she attempted to take out several credit cards" in the woman's name. She told the detective she "only did it to get back at her."

Among the items Cooper purchased with the credit cards -- jeans, shoes, a leather jacket and bedding set.

If convicted, Cooper faces up to four years in prison.
