Tammy Baldwin submits nomination papers in Senate race

MADISON -- Tammy Baldwin, the only Democrat in the race for Wisconsin's U.S. Senate seat currently held by the retiring Herb Kohl turned in her nomination signatures to the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board Tuesday, May 29th.

The Baldwin campaign collected signatures from over 10,000 Wisconsin citizens, in all 72 counties, to place Baldwin on the ballot for this November's election for US Senate. 

In a statement Tuesday, Baldwin said: "The people of Wisconsin want their next U.S. Senator to stand up to corporate special interests in Washington and fight for Wisconsin's middle class and our campaign has received strong grassroots support from citizens all across Wisconsin. The fact that we were able to meet our goal of collecting over 10,000 signatures, representing all of Wisconsin's 72 counties, is a clear sign that we are building a strong grassroots campaign for the November election."

Baldwin is the third candidate in the race to turn in nomination papers. As it stands, Baldwin would face four Republicans seeking the seat, including Eric Hovde, Mark Neumann, Tommy Thompson and Jeff Fitzgerald.
