This, as some wonder whether another company will come forward to fill the space vacated by Target on Brown Deer Road.
The Target store is the latest near the former Northridge Mall to announce it will close its doors.
It has been a rough stretch for retail in the area since the mall closed in 2003. Most recently, American TV & Appliance closed in 2014.
"The trade area changed. A lot of folks started shopping in these other areas," Rocky Marcoux said.
But Marcoux, the commissioner for Milwaukee's Department of City Development says it's not all bad.

"It has created a little bit of a vacuum for some of those buildings left behind, but we're finding pretty good adaptive reuses for them. A couple of them have been turned into manufacturing facilities, which is great," Marcoux said.
Target Corporation owns the property and Marcoux hopes to work out a deal to successfully replace the box store.
"Brown Deer Road is a great location. The trade area is just simply changing. We just need to adapt to that change," Marcoux said.
