Ted Nugent to appear at Thompson fundraiser

MADISON (AP) -- Famous rocker Ted Nugent, who has been outspoken about his conservative views, is hosting a rally for Wisconsin U.S. Senate candidate and former governor Tommy Thompson on Thursday, July 26th.

Thompson's campaign has named the event, which will take place in Sturtevant, "Rocking Rally with Ted Nugent, American Sporting Legend, and Tommy Thompson, American Conservative Legend."

This rally comes just under three weeks from the Aug. 14 Republican primary for one of the U.S. Wisconsin Senate seats.

Nugent got in trouble back in April over comments about President Barack Obama during a speech at the National Rifle Association. The rock star met with the Secret Service after calling Obama's administration an "evil, America-hating administration", and urging voters to "chop their heads off in November."

Thompson will face businessman Eric Hovde, former U.S. Rep. Mark Neumann, and state Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald in the GOP primary. The winner of the primary will face incumbent and Democrat Tammy Baldwin in the general election on November 6.
