"This is going to be a very quick visit:" Travelers still feeling the effects of Chicago fire

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Things were much smoother compared to yesterday at General Mitchell Airport in Milwaukee on Saturday, September 27th. There were no major delays or cancellations in lieu of the situation out of O'Hare in Chicago.

Since Friday, one couple, Victoria Adams and Phil Sommer have been waiting to fly into Milwaukee from different cities in the U.S.

"I got a text that my flight was cancelled. I was supposed to fly in yesterday evening," said Adams.

For the past 24 hours, time has not been on their side.

"I started frantically looking for flights. They were all sold out online," Adams said.

Adams was in New York, and Sommer was in Baltimore -- just two of the thousands of travelers who had to change plans after a fire at an FAA facility on Friday.

Coincidentally, these two ended up on the same flight, sharing some extra time -- before they start over again on Sunday, and have to fly-out again from General Mitchell.

"This is going to be a very quick visit.  We fly out about 5:30 tomorrow," said Adams.

More than 700 flights were cancelled due to the fire at an FAA facility in Chicago.
