Three firefighters injured battling Jefferson Co. grass fire

JEFFERSON COUNTY -- Jefferson County fire officials say crews are battling a grass fire near County Road Z and Highway 59 in Jefferson County.

Officials say the fire has burned an acre in a park, and hasn't yet been contained. Between 75 and 100 firefighters and four EMS units are on the scene responding to the fire.

Three firefighters have been injured while fighting this blaze -- two with heat exhaustion and one with unknown injuries.

At least five departments have been called in for mutual aid so far (Eagle, Palmyra, Sullivan, Rome and Whitewater.)
