"Too much snow too early!" First snowfall of the season drops three to four inches on Racine

RACINE (WITI) -- Winter has arrived in southeastern Wisconsin. We saw the first measurable snowfall on Saturday, November 15th into Sunday -- to the delight of some and the dismay of others. With single-digit wind chills in the forecast for the early part of this week, it appears winter may be here to stay.

On Sunday morning, November 16th, Racine residents woke up to snow-covered streets, and for some, it was time to get out the shovel.

"Too much snow too early!" Kate Gleason said.

Some said this first snowfall of the season was just enough to be a nuisance.

"I'm not happy about it," Whittney Koepnick said.

"I'm a little surprised! It's a little early in the year," a Racine resident said.

The first snowfall coming a little early this year has some worried we could see a repeat of last year's harsh, cold winter.

"I'm worried it's going to be a lot like last year where it's just winter forever and I'm hoping we just don't get too much snow," Gleason said.

Others said they're happy this first snowfall was relatively easy to deal with.

"Wasn't much -- so no problem with that. We're going to be begging it's this nice in the future," Chuck Haas said.

Some headed out to the Great Lakes Farmer's Market at Milaeger's Sunday, hoping to get in the Christmas spirit.

"With the snow, it's actually a wonderful thing because it will get people in the mood," Kara Kading said.

"It definitely makes you think more that Christmas is coming, and it puts you in the holiday spirit," Koepnick said.

As winter settles in, these folks in Racine say we have to remember -- we're in Wisconsin.

"We're tough cookies! We can handle it," Kading said.

Racine had about three to four inches of snow as of early Sunday morning.
