Town of Geneva fatal shooting; boy killed, man charged with homicide
TOWN OF GENEVA, Wis. - A Lake Geneva man has been charged after the shooting death of a boy in Geneva.

What we know:
The Town of Geneva Police Department said 52-year-old Steven Merkel is charged with first-degree reckless homicide.
Officials say just before 2:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, Town of Geneva police officers were dispatched to a residence on Lincoln Avenue for a report of a shooting.

When officers and fire personnel arrived on the scene, they found a boy who had been shot.
They began life-saving measures. The boy was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries, officials said.
The Town of Geneva Police Department is working with the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office on this investigation.
Merkel was arrested and taken to the Walworth County Jail.
