Town of West Bend crash; woman arrested for operating while impaired

A two-vehicle crash in the Town of West Bend on Sunday evening, Dec. 29 ended with one driver with serious injuries and the second driver being arrested. 

The Washington County Sheriff's Office says the wreck happened shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of County Trunk P and County Trunk NN. The preliminary investigation revealed a southbound vehicle collided with an eastbound vehicle that failed to yield at the intersection. 

The driver of the southbound vehicle suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle, a 51-year-old woman from the Town of Trenton, was arrested for operating while impaired causing injury, officials said. Additionally, charges for being armed while intoxicated will be referred to the Washington County District Attorney’s Office for the 44-year-old male passenger of that same vehicle.

The intersection was closed for approximately five hours while the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit conducted a thorough investigation.
