Traffic stop, foot chase near Carthage College, initial report of active shooter

While authorities were searching for the suspect, a report of an active shooter threat was issued at the school.

A traffic stop led to a foot chase near Carthage College Monday morning, Sept. 27, the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department said. The suspect is in custody. 

While authorities were searching for the suspect, a report of an active shooter threat was issued at the school.

The building in question and surrounding area were thoroughly checked and no evidence of an active shooter or any type of disturbance was discovered. There are no injuries and no one is in custody regarding this incident; however, an investigation continues into the source of reporting, Kenosha police said.

It was quickly determined that this was a case of misinformation spread through social media and word of mouth, a release said.

There is no threat to the community, a tweet from the Kenosha Sherrif said.
